Sadly a great number do not understand this.

I agree whole-heartedly about popular cultures influence on many churches. We do need to become "all things to all men" to win others to Christ as Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 9:19...but not just as "imitators" of this world.

Thankfully, Jesus, the "pioneer and perfector of my faith", has brought me to this place in my life!!

Now discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yield the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it! Hebrews 12:11

Thank you for stopping by and commenting...I plan to revisit your blog soon!!

Oh...and please feel free to call me Jephyr if you'd like! :)

God Bless!

Jephyrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15372817414149551901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3294229024017520295.post-82697453444527301722012-12-05T02:36:17.891-07:002012-12-05T02:36:17.891-07:00Hi Jephyr,

I used to think that I was in a broad place when I lived my worldly life, but it led me into a very narrow and dark place, where I was ruled by many masters. Now that I have come through the narrow gate of faith in Jesus, I am in a broad place of love and happiness with just one master who cares for me in a way that I could not have imagined, and with whom there is a continuing existance of such that eye has not seen.Brendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16165344093549650260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3294229024017520295.post-16253967249061164032012-12-04T16:58:20.450-07:002012-12-04T16:58:20.450-07:00Dear Sir,

I am often surprised to hear Christians speak of seeing movies, tv and listening to music that glorify unGodliness. To me, they are allowing the world to shape their values and attitudes - being conformed to the world, rather than being transformed, as St. Paul wrote in Romans.

A related issue is the importing of the styles and tastes of the world into the Church. I understand that people who come to Christ out of the secular culture may take a while to shed their taste for it. But I wonder if copying that culture's music, dress, street language, etc. is wise?

Blessings.Bishop Dennis Campbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09586518874645248035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3294229024017520295.post-73594000872154717462012-11-29T11:45:37.239-07:002012-11-29T11:45:37.239-07:00Hi Brenda! But sadly for those not under the protection of God...as it says above in Luke 26: "...men’s hearts [will be] failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken."

But as believers we can cast all our cares upon him...and can see these signs as a message of Christ's return!!

Thank you for your comment and testimony of your thirty years of knowing God!

For those who do not know Him...ask Jesus into your heart, receive His love and forgiveness, purchased by His sacrifice on the cross...and believe that God raised him from the dead....and you WILL be saved.

Then read the Bible to understand more. The New Testament is a great place to start.

Then it is important to find a good church that teaches from the Bible...understanding that there are many that do not teach the truth.

If you are not ready to believe...ask God to reveal Himself to you...and read the Bible asking Him for understanding.

Time may be short...and no one knows when it may run out. As Brenda wrote...it is a wonderful experience to know Him!! And nothing in the earth will give you this peace and satisfaction!!
Jephyrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15372817414149551901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3294229024017520295.post-48088851563965705472012-11-29T11:26:38.873-07:002012-11-29T11:26:38.873-07:00Hi Bishop Campbell, (For some reason I cannot use...Hi Bishop Campbell, (For some reason I cannot use the "reply" button here in blogger)

Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting.

For several days I was reminded of that passage in Luke. I think the part that spoke to me the loudest was about the roaring waves...because we'd just been through Sandy and then other flooding in the northwest. And of course all the floods and tsunamis over the last several years.

I stopped by your blog and website but didn't really have enough time to take it in. I'll stop by soon and am looking forward to reading more about your discussion of Revelation. Thank you for the invite! The important thing is that the individual is under the protection of God by believing in Jesus and is part of that church on Earth. Then we can receive comfort, teaching and peace from the Holy Spirit as we seek it, and keep our minds stayed upon Him. God's perfect love casts out fear. The Holy Spirit always brings into my mind when I may worry about the future.'Take no thought for tomorrow', or 'cast all your anxieties upon Him, for He cares for you'. It is the Lord we turn to for comfort and advice isn't it? I have found no greater comfort and counselling in the thirty years that I have come to know Him.
God blessBrendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16165344093549650260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3294229024017520295.post-74242275548787620632012-11-26T09:15:55.790-07:002012-11-26T09:15:55.790-07:00I find it very interesting that you quote Luke 21 ...I find it very interesting that you quote Luke 21 instead of the more popular Matthew 24. Luke makes it plain that the abomination of desolation in Mt. 24:15 is the Jerusalem compassed with armies of Lk. 21:20.

I invite you to follow my blog, which is currently discussing the book of Revelation. My view of it is a little different from the one currently popular, but you may find it interesting.Bishop Dennis Campbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09586518874645248035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3294229024017520295.post-41710958733499252892012-10-25T12:09:42.549-07:002012-10-25T12:09:42.549-07:00Hi Brenda!
