Not So Subtle Media Bias

The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of those who by their wickedness suppress the truth. — Romans 1:18

Illustration: The Camera Can LIE

Hi!

I went out this morning for a quick trip to the market — and on the way home turned on the car radio and started listening to a local "conservative" talk station.

At one point — a news announcer began his report by saying "Evacuations in Hawaii and consternation in Ohio...."

He was referring to the volcano currently erupting in our 50th state — and that authorities were moving people from dangerous zones around lava flow — and that Ohio's Governor had just signed a Bill putting strong limits on abortions there.

I thought about his opening words and how he had already "shaded" his report on the abortion Bill by "high-lighting" only the opposition side.

Then when it came time to give the actual details — of course — his focus was only on groups who were outraged at the Ohio Bill and vowing to fight it — without any mention of groups supporting it or the Governor.

"News" Meme: And Now It's Time To Go Over The Carefully Selected Stories That Have Been Chosen To Manipulate Your Emotions And Thinking

Anyone not critically listening to this station would probably not even be aware that they were only getting one-half the the story — and might conclude that Ohio's Governor had signed a Bill into law with most citizens in total opposition to it.
---------------------------------------------

While this is an example of obvious one sided report — it is also unfortunately just one of many in what has become the norm for "news reporting" in this country.

Could the announcer have also lead his news report with, "Evacuations in Hawaii and CELEBRATIONS in Ohio" — acknowledging that many groups, and individuals support the governor's decision —and then discussed only those supporting the Bill and the governor?

Of course.

So — while many people think they are getting the "news" — they are only getting a biased, one-sided view of things from MOST "journalists" — and sadly even "conservative" stations are not immune.

-----------------------------------

In 2017, a Harvard Study revealed the absolutely overwhelming tsunami of negative reporting about our then new President.

https://shorensteincenter.org/news-coverage-donald-trumps-first-100-days/

It exposed EXTREMELY biased coverage of Trump by the "news" media — showing that many outlets spent less than 15% "reporting" on anything positive.

In fact — both CNN and NBC devoted 93% of their broadcasts to unfavorable "news" — and little has changed since then from most in our "Main Stream News."

Many reading this are probably already acutely aware of the daily bias encountered when consuming US media.

During the run-up to the 2016 Presidential election  — when the MSM constantly gave Trump almost no chance of of winning — it opened many eyes to the slanted reporting done by "news" outlets.

But for those who still trust the MSM to fairly and accurately report the news — perhaps this post can be the beginning of awareness about the "not so subtle media bias" present in most of our "news" reporting these days.

God Answers "Little" Prayers Too

Hi!

Someone asked people on twitter to share times when God answered their prayers — so I put something together and posted it as a reply to their request.

I share it here as well, as a thank you to God and an encouragement to anyone else who might read this:

-----------------------------

Recently, I was looking for something I'd seen in one of my books. I spent quite a while going through several that I thought would be likely candidates without success. I started expanding my search to other books without luck. Eventually I started to wonder if I’d seen it in one of MY books or some where else — and was starting to give up finding it here.

So then I did a pretty extensive internet search for what I was looking for.  I’ve gotten pretty good at finding things on-line — but after a lot of effort couldn’t find it there either.

FINALLY, I prayed — a short simple prayer like — “Please God, in the name of Jesus, help me find that” — and then went on to other things.

One day I passed a bookshelf and saw a book — one I had overlooked during all my other
searches. Something said “look in that one” — and of course I found what I'd been looking all over for in THAT book.

Since I’d looked EVERYWHERE I could think of — I knew it was an answer to prayer and have been thanking God for leading me to it ever since.

-----------------------------

When I was a kid my mom used to tell a similar story about her father. He was a farmer and lost his pocket watch in a stack of hay one day — he also prayed and asked God to help him find it.

He reached his arm into the hay and closed his hand and pulled the watch out.

God answers “little” prayers. He answers BIG prayers too!

Alice Cooper Testimony: The World Belongs to Satan

Video Embedded Below Commentary

---------------------------------------------

Hi!

When a dear aunt of mine died a number of years ago—I spoke to the Pastor who officiated her funeral at her graveside.

She had led him to Jesus when he was a young teen—and he said that he had never struggled with the battle between serving the Lord or the world.

At that time I was a musician living in California chasing after what many (most) young musicians want: adoring fans, women, fame, money..................

Interestingly—my aunt had also led me in my first "sinners prayer" when I was very young (eight or so) and I still had an anchor in my heart from that real confession and belief—but the lure of the world and the constant bombardment by it's entertainment, culture and values had done its work on me—and I was eager to "make it" in music and lay hold of its promises.

I could also add that even though I went to church as a kid and grew up in a "Christian" home—there was a lot of legalism and not enough love there—and ZERO positive Christian male influence in my life.

So in some ways I was ripe for the world to pick me off.

Though I discovered after years of chasing after the empty promises the world made—that God had been whispering to me in that sweet small voice—constantly calling to me to return.

-------------------------------------

When I saw the video below—I thought about my own experience.

And while it might be easier to dismiss my testimony—hearing it from someone like rock star Alice Cooper—who was rewarded with EVERYTHING the world promises will make us happy—and his discovery that it did not bring him ANY happiness—may carry more weight. *

Alice Cooper’s 1975 Album “Welcome To My Nightmare” In the video Alice says: I was the REAL prodigal son—The Lord allowed me to do EVERYTHING—but he brought me back to where I belong. You realize that after you’ve had EVERY car and every house— materialism is NOT the answer. There’s a big God shaped hole in your heart!

In the video—Alice Cooper also makes a clear statement about his faith in Jesus as Lord.

If you've been lured away from your faith by the "dreams" of this world—or if you've never made a decision about accepting Jesus as Lord—I highly recommend watching the video and allowing God to speak into your heart.

Coming to Jesus will be the BEST decision you ever make!

It has been for me!

* I have not seen any concerts by Alice Cooper—and do not know if I would agree with what he performs today—so this is not an endorsement of him—but is presented only to share what he said in this interview.

Video: Signs Of Change - May 2014

On November 26, 2012 I created a blog post entitled: The Words Of Jesus On The Signs Of The Times And The End Of The Age.

Luke 21 was the focus of that post...and it is a very interesting and pertinent chapter from the Bible to consider at this present time in history.

The End Of The Age?

In it Jesus is speaking to his disciples who were asking about the "end of the age".

Jesus spends the rest of that chapter describing events we can look for leading up to the "end-times" including nations at war, earthquakes, famines and pestilence (fatal epidemic disease), fearful sights and great signs from heaven, and persecution towards believers.

Jesus goes on to say:  25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.  27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

The Parable of the Fig Tree

29 Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. 31 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

The Importance of Watching

34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

It's clear from this video's YouTube description the maker of it doesn't believe any of the "signs" seen in it point to the "end-times".

But watching it with Jesus' words in your mind will lead many to the conclusion that we are seeing many unprecedented events in our world...that are a direct fulfilment of the words of Jesus some two thousand years ago.

The only question remains is...will it for you?

The Words Of Jesus On The Signs Of The Times And The End Of The Age

Hello and thank you for stopping by!

Recently, the words of Jesus as he replied to his disciples about the "end times" have been on my mind a lot lately.

We definitely have seen the "roaring of the waves" here in the US and also all over the world.

Plus there certainly have been earthquakes and wars and rumors of wars all around the globe.

It definitely seems like it's time to "awaken" and know the "signs of the age".

--------------------------------------------
Luke 21 (NKJV)

The Disciples of Jesus Ask Him About:  The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age

7 So they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?”

8 And He said: “Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore do not go after them. 9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.”

10 Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake. 13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. 14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. 18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost. 19 By your patience possess your souls.

20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

37 And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet. 38 Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.
